Healthy Baby Food Made EASY!

Okay, so now that I'm on my 3rd baby, I have FINALLY mastered making quick, healthy, delicious baby food.  There are plenty of websites out there that show you how to make baby food but for some reason they never seemed this simple to me.

In the past I have made different veggie combos, sweet potatoes (always a favourite) and pretty much any fruit mixed with whole grain baby cereal (I find it thickens it up nicely so it's not quite so runny).  The creation I am going to walk you through is a fruit/veggie combo and it literally takes 5 minutes to make.

My weapon of choice is this Betty Crocker chopper.  I'm not sure of the actual name but I bought it at Sears and it works better than any blender/bullet I have tried (and it was under $40).

Next are my ingredients.  Blueberries (any berries will work - I especially love blackberries; their abundant flavour covers almost any veggie taste and they make it a pretty colour too!), peach (or apricot, banana, etc), organic baby cereal (any kind will do) and frozen veggies (I use a green/yellow bean and carrot mix).  **Disclaimer:  Although my baby loves strawberries, I should note that they ARE considered to be an allergy risk, therefore it is not recommended that you feed them to children under one year of age**

I usually add my veggies first, as they need the most chopping power, then my fruit and cereal.  I don't measure anything; I just kind of know how much my baby can eat.  I would say there's about 1/3 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup of cereal (this is the really fine, flaky stuff), a whole peach and 6-8 veggie pieces in here.
Put the lid on and blend away!  It'll come out looking something like this:

Yes, I have tasted it and yes, it is VERY tasty!  I rinse the lid and blade right away so that I can use them again without having to soak and scrub them.  Then I feed straight from the mixing bowl since, let's face it, who wants to do more dishes?

And the end result?  A happy, healthy baby.  And a mom who feels good about what she's feeding her baby without having to spend hours preparing.
